Project Coordination Team

What we are doing

  • Secure resources, based on community-identified needs, to complete specific projects related to infrastructure, processing, packaging, distribution, technical assistance, workforce training and marketing. Highest priority is team capacity to keep OOCI in action! Projects should be as ‘shovel ready’ as reasonably possible prior to seeking resources.

Partners: Private Foundations, Government Grants, Congressionally Directed Spending, Coastal Caucus, private lenders, in-kind partnerships. Builder’s Initiative, USDA, NOAA, Business Oregon.

Team: Stepwell Strategies, Sea and Shore Solutions, One Small Step, NorPac Consulting, Blue Ridge Strategies, North Coast Industries

  • Offer our future workforce trainings for jobs that actually exist on the Oregon Coast and retain our youth whom tend to have housing already. The realities of our long-term, nation-wide workforce shortage have caused us to redirect our limited resources to focus on building out trainings with coastal K-12, Education Service Districts and Community Colleges for coastal youth.

Partners: K-12 districts, Education Service Districts (ESDs), community colleges, workforce boards, Oregon Coast Culinary Institute, Oregon Restaurant and Lodging Association, business associations.

    Team: Maggie Michaels, Aquatic Resources

  • Invest in existing and build new technical assistance programs to support future infrastructure investments for small and mid-sized businesses seeking to ‘scale up’ their operations. Our nation-wide workforce shortage informs us to prioritize TA resources toward efficiencies in business operations.

Partners: OSU Food Innovation Center, OSU Seafood Research Center, Central Coast Food Web, North Coast Food Web, Astoria Food Hub.

Team: NorPac Consulting, North Coast Industries, Aquatic Resources, Linda Wechsler

  • Compare and contrast different cost/benefit options of placing infrastructure with different partners. Prior to placement of infrastructure, determine operational scenarios, and easy of re-deploying the asset if initial investment does not work out.

Partners: Central Coast Food Web, North Coast Food Web, Astoria Food Hub, Port Districts. Assignments: North Coast Industries, NorPac Consulting, Linda Wechsler, The Research Group

  • Support the above team project activities and secure OKR’s in the LFPP grant (thru September 2024) by educating agency, business, NGO, stakeholders and seafood consumers about OOCI goals and objectives (e.g. increase direct seafood sales, increase OOCI event attendance/training, recruit new stakeholders, build niche and highly motivated social audience). Create easily digestible and visual reports on attributes such audience reached, overall engagement, and most popular content, products, etc.

Partners: Seafood Nutrition Partnership, Oregon Food Hub Network, Oregon Farm to Institution Coalition, Travel Oregon, Coast and valley DMO’s, seafood businesses, Seafood Commissions, Port Districts, ocean health/environmental, business associations (e.g. Oregon Business Council), NGO’s, EDCs, SBDCs.

Team: Little Zesty PDX, Amara DePaul, NorPac Consulting, Blue Ridge Strategies, Cascadia Praxis, Elevation 0M, North Coast Industries

  • Reporting financials, metrics, perform grant management, meeting coordination, take, record and make notes available, manage back end permissions and systems for platforms.

Assignments: Stepwell Strategies, Sea & Shore Solutions, North Coast Industries, NorPac Consulting, Amara DePaul, Little Zesty PDX.
